Falklandskrigen
Abstract
On the 2nd of April 1982, the United Kingdom found itself at war after the surprise Argentine invasion of the remote Falkland Islands. The UK took sovereignty over the islands in 1833, much to Argentina’s dismay, and the Falklands remain a British colony to this day. From discovery to conquest, the following assignment examines the historical events leading up to the Falklands war in order to shed some light on the cause of Argentina’s sudden invasion. Due to the unshakable resolve of a determined Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher, and the resourcefulness of the British Armed forces, the UK was victorious. This assignment includes a text analysis of an article, which explains just how important a role the Falklands war played in Thatcher’s career, ensuring her premiership for a further 8 years. The text analysis includes, amongst other things, a summary, and a look at the linguistic and communicative tools used. Consideration has been taken throughout this assignment as to the credibility of the sources used. [Læs mere…]
