Retsopgøret efter 2. verdenskrig

Abstract:

This paper investigates how Danish collaborationist were brought to justice after the Liberation. It also explains how the resistance movement as well as the people took a stand on the punishment question and how their opinions could have influenced the legislation. Finally the study estimates and discusses whether it was legitimate for the politicians to reintroduce the death penalty. To study the opinions of both the resistance movement and the people, a booklet and an article have been included. They have been analysed by using source criticism. Different understandings of democracy and justice have also been used to view the politicians’ death penalty problems from different angles. It is concluded that the opinions of the people and resistance movements most likely have been able to affect the politician’s legislation in relation to the death penalty. It is also concluded that in spite of the many aspects, which can illegitimate or legitimate the politicians’ decisions, the politicians did not live up to their responsibility and acknowledge their own collaboration. Københavns bombardement

Forord

Det er i år 200års jubilæet for Københavnsbombardement, en begivenhed som næsten er forsvundet helt ud af vores bevidsthed og ikke mindst ud af englændernes. Jeg føler at det var en skam, at sådan en stor begivenhed i vores historie fik så lidt opmærksomhed. Det er sparsomt, hvad der er skrevet om bombardementet. Jeg synes derfor, at det kunne være spændende at undersøge det nærmere. Bombardementet af København er særligt interessant i disse tider, hvor terrorisme er et så varmt emne. Frygten for et terrorangreb i Danmark har aldrig været større end efter 11. september og vores indtræden i Irak-krigen. Men det er fordi vi glemmer, for Københavns bombardement. Det er et af første angreb, som rettede sig direkte mod civile, som vi har nedskrevne kilder om. Mit emne valg er først og fremmed af personlig interesse, men også fordi jeg synes, at det er et emne undervisningen i henholdsvis folkeskolen og gymnasiet berører alt for lidt. [Læs mere…]

Romerrigets opløsning

Romerrigets undergang var mere en opløsning end et dissideret fald. Det var en langvarig proces, som varede flere hundrede år, og ikke fra den ene dag til den anden. Derfor er det meget svært, at fastsætte en præcis dato på Romerrigets sammenbrud. Riget var splittet og samlet flere gange under forskellige kejsere, under germanernes og Hunnernes indflydelse og slutteligt delt i et vest- og et øst rige. Forskellige historikere har dog givet deres bud på en datering, de varierer lige fra Diocletians magtovertagelse i 284 e.kr. til Konstantinopels erobring i 1453 e.kr1., hvilken dato, der har været mest af afgørende og har haft størst betydning for rigets fald, ligger udover denne opgave at vurdere. Hamlet

Abstract

This paper analyses the play Hamlet by William Shakespeare with special and investigates the problems regarding translation. Hamlet reflects The Elizabethan World Picture and is about Hamlet, a young student who comes home for his father’s funeral and his mother’s remarriage. This marriage causes Hamlet to develop a misogynistic attitude because of an unresolved Oedipal conflict which ruins his relationship with Ophelia, though he still loves her. Throughout the play Hamlet develops from being an individual “thinker” to being an “actor” who can avenge his father’s murder. While developing he must pretend to be mad to protect himself but he also becomes mad in reality because of all the corruption in the Danish Court. Because of this he also becomes corrupt himself who can kill people with no remorse. Another theme in addition to “Seeming and Being” and corruption is the division Hamlet feels. He must sacrifice some of himself for the duty he has to his family. These themes are relevant even today and makes sure the play is analyzed, interpreted and translated anew even today. There are many problems when translating and it is regarded as almost impossible. Therefore there are different things a translator must take into consideration especially when translating Shakespeare who uses many linguistic devices. This is seen in Lembcke and Sarvig’s translations of Hamlet where choices must be made when it comes to Hamlet’s ambiguous lines. Here the translators interpret and translate differently as Lembcke takes a more direct approach, translating almost word for word and giving a formal equivalence, whereas Sarvig bases his translation more on his interpretation of the text trying to restore some of the original impression of the lines – in contrast to these is Jensen’s translation of “the nunnery scene” where a more dynamic equivalence is achieved.
